Biography

Richard began his social care career in the early 1990s in children’s homes. He qualified in 1995 and has worked exclusively in children’s services with a focus on safeguarding since then. In 2015, Richard began working at Doncaster Children’s Services Trust which was at the time the first and only organisation of its kind. As head of service for two localities, Richard was part of the team that helped Doncaster to get from Inadequate to Good whilst developing a stable and well-supported workforce. This is still one of Richard’s proudest professional achievements.

Now an independent practitioner and consultant, Richard focuses on improving the quality of practice, supporting and nurturing social workers and managers and ensuring that their work has a positive impact on the children and families they work with.

Richard is delighted to be working in partnership with Equinox. This role increases his opportunity to get to know practitioners and services across the country as well as supporting them to deliver an outstanding service.

Richard lives in Doncaster and enjoys socialising, holidays abroad in the sun, live music and playing the guitar. He also has a fondness for Lego and the shelves in his home office are full of it.
